UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon believes that Iran needs to comply with the requirements of all relevant UN Security Council resolutions and cooperate fully with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to resolve outstanding issues on Tehran's nuclear program.

"The goal of our efforts is to achieve comprehensive and lasting settlement, which would restore the confidence of the international community in the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program, while respecting Iran's legitimate right to peaceful use of nuclear energy. We reaffirm the commitment to continue to work to achieve that goal. We also welcome and encourage all diplomatic efforts in this area, especially those that have recently been made by Brazil and Turkey with regard to the specific issue of the Tehran research reactor. We reaffirm our proposal of June 2008. which shall remain in force, as confirmed by UN Security Council Resolution 1929 (2010 ). In our opinion, these proposals provide a sound basis for further negotiations. We are ready to continue dialogue and cooperation with Iran in the context of implementing the understandings reached during a meeting in Geneva on 1 October 2009. We have asked the EU High Representative for foreign affairs and politics Safety with a request at the earliest possible efforts will be made with the Registrar of the Supreme National Security Council.
