Serbian police arrested on Thursday, June 10, on the border with Croatia, a member of one of the largest Serb gangs Milos Simovic, who is accused of involvement in the murder in 2003 of Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic.
As the head of the Serbian Ministry of Interior Ivica Dachich, Simovic was arrested on the night while trying to illegally cross the Croatian-Serbian border. He had no identity documents and was taken to police headquarters in Belgrade for identification.
It is reported that Simovic will be sent to prison to serve his sentence.
According to investigators, Simovic, June 8 in the Croatian capital of Zagreb wounded by small arms fire another member of the Zemun group Sretko Kalinichev, then tried to escape. Kalinichev, received two wounds in the chest and abdomen, is in a Croatian hospital.
For involvement in the murder of Djindjic, both the offender sentenced in absentia in Belgrade to 30 years in prison. After the assassination of Djindjic, Simovic and Kalinichev left Serbia. They are a long time hiding in Croatia, but the local police had been able to leave their mark only after the attempt on Kalinichev Simovic. Belgrade has said that Serbia will seek the extradition from Croatia Kalinichev.
